The Safari Tour is a "cooperative activity tour" for students (target grades 3 through 8) that facilitates respect for the environment and reinforces character education goals. It supports cognitive thinking and encourages further investigation. Teams of three to five students are given a backpack filled with hands-on objects, supplies and instructions to explore the museum exhibit halls.

Students will be challenged as they use map and reading skills to learn interesting facts about our planet as well as grade specific earth, physical, and social science themes. Safari Guides (docents) help students connect what they learn to human activities.

Available: September - March on Wednesdays & Fridays; April - May on Mondays & Wednesdays.

Time: 1.5 hours

Maximum students: 100 | Maximum adults: 20

School Group Rate: $3.50/person

"Kids love having the objectives to complete, not just sitting and listening or walking around. Overall excellent tour, well organized." -- 5th grade teacher, Hal-Kent Elementary
