Live Animal Care
(available to youth and adults)
Work with an Animal
Caretaker in cleaning, feeding and exercising animals that are
used in educational programming.
Provides a unique
opportunity to work with a variety of reptiles, birds and
mammals.
Programs
Department
Docent
(Educational tour guide)- Derived from Latin “docere” meaning to
teach, these volunteers are Museum teachers for school and
public tour groups. These front line volunteers interact with
visitors of all ages answering questions, offering information
and allowing visitors to handle objects. Training throughout
the year is provided. No prior teaching experience is
required. Must be 18 to participate.
Nature Space
Facilitator- Interact with the general public in the
hands-on discovery room. This involves instructing visitors on
how to use the exhibits and basic security in this hall.
(Available to youth and adults)
Special Events
– Once a year opportunities to assist the staff with a variety
of tasks during events such as Museum Day, Black Heritage
Festival, Summer Camps for children, and assistance with special
exhibits. Other opportunities include working with the Museum
League on projects such as the Annual Garden Tour, Homes for the
Holidays and Music at the Museum.
Maintenance and
Security Department
(available to youth and adults)
- Maintenance
of Wildlife trails
- Lawn care-
grass cutting, weeding, sidewalk/parking lot cleaning
- General
maintenance of physical facility
Administration
Museum Store
assistant- Assist store personnel with special events, assist staff with
inventory and sales. Must be 18 years old to participate.
Office Assistant-
Assist business office staff with various office duties and
special mailings. |
