A: There are several ways to join. Join on this website, or telephone the Membership Department Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. central time at (256) 237-6766. You may also join the Museum during your next visit. Regardless of how you join, we will mail your membership packet with your membership cards by U.S. mail.

Q: Who is included in a membership?
A: A Student membership is for any full-time student, regardless of their age. A solo membership provides benefits for one person. A Household membership provides benefits for all who live at the membership address.

Q: How long will my membership last?
A: Memberships are valid for 12 months – we even include the remainder of the month you join as a grace period.

Q: When will I get my membership card & info packet?
A: These will be mailed within 14 days. If you don’t receive it within this time, please call the Membership Department at (256) 237-6766.

Q: Can I join for two years?
A: Absolutely!  Simply select the two year option upon checkout.  This lessens your paperwork and insures uninterrupted service.

Q: What is ASTC (Association of Science - Technology Centers) reciprocal admission?
A: Anniston Museum members receive free (or discounted) admission to 200+ museums & science centers in the U.S. and abroad with a valid Anniston Museum membership card. Restrictions apply. This is GREAT for vacation planning!

Q: Which ASTC locations participate?
A: All listed here except those within 90 miles of Anniston Museum or within 90 miles of your home address:  http://www.astc.org/members/passlist.htm .  Keep in mind that free/discounted admission may not apply if your home or if Anniston Museum is within 90 miles of the ASTC participant you plan to visit. Only the ‘official’ Anniston Museum list distributed each May is correct for Anniston Museum members.  For a November-April list send a self-addressed stamped envelope inside a 2nd envelope addressed to: ASTC Update, Anniston Museum League, POB 1587, Anniston AL  36202.

Q: Must I accompany guests who use my guest passes?
A: No.

Q: What is a Visit Voucher?
A: It’s an option available only to members during the joining or renewing process. The member purchases as many Visit Vouchers as needed, and keeps the voucher to use and re-use for free admission to Anniston Museum for any guest, whether grandchild, caregiver, grandparent, or other. Vouchers are $10 each and valid during your membership year.

Q: Do members residing outside of Alabama receive different benefits?
A: A slight variation occurs for those who live outside Alabama.  Their memberships are designed to entice travelers to our wonderful natural history museum. Newsletters, store discounts, ASTC reciprocal admission, and an open invitation to special events are reserved for nature lovers who are a bit farther away!  See Membership benefits page for more details.

Q: How can I use my guest passes?
A: Members receive 4 complimentary guest passes (student members receive two). These are one-time use admission passes to Anniston Museum. Members can choose to bring a guest with them, or to give the passes away so that others can visit at their leisure. Guest passes are not valid at any other museum.

Q: Can I purchase a membership on the day I visit the Museum?
A: Yes. Please stop by the Admissions desk in the lobby.

Q: If I decide during my visit to become a Museum member, can I apply the cost of my general admission tickets towards a membership?
A: Yes. Before you leave the Museum, complete a membership form and submit it with your admission receipt along with the balance. This offer is valid only on the day that you purchased your admission tickets.

Q: Can a friend or family member use my membership card?
A: No, but you can encourage them to join the Museum as well. Memberships are nontransferable and are valid only for those listed on the membership.

Q: Is my membership tax deductible?
A: Yes. A portion of your membership may be deductible. We suggest you consult your tax advisor for more information.
